UKFT member John Smedley launched a limited edition collection with Katharine Hammernett London in order to promote sustainable British design. Together they created an exclusive capsule collection with the slogan “Choose slow” that asks consumers to evaluate where and from whom their clothing is purchased, shifting focus away from fast fashion to slow fashion.
The UKFT said that 20% of the profits generated by the John Smedley collection will be donated to UKFT in order to support apprenticeships within the UK fashion and manufacturing industries.
Katharine Hammernett said: “I’ve worked with John Smedley on and off since the 1980s. I have always appreciated the quality of their work.” They are one of only a few mills left that produce the best, traditional and quintessentially British product.
Jess Mcguire Dudley , brand director at John Smedley , said: “Katharine is a pioneer in ethical practices and has challenged the status quo for decades. It’s an honour to have collaborated with her on this collection. She is my personal hero. “Our aim is to re-engage customers with slow fashion by encouraging them to value British manufacturing, high-quality, traceable fibers, and the people behind our products.”
Exclusively available in John Smedley shops and on the official websites of John Smedley, Katharine Hamnett and John Smedley, this timeless collection will include extra fine merino knitwear, accessories, and 100% organic tees.
