The Fashion Council of Germany and 24 other fashion institutes have formed the European Fashion Alliance. The European Fashion Alliance is a group of fashion organizations that aims to unite, transform and promote a sustainable European fashion eco-system. FCG is a patron for the German Fashion and Design Landscape.
FCG, with the help of Messe Frankfurt’s global Texpertise network and a recent two-day conference in Frankfurt am Main gathered the top European fashion organizations to form a coalition for change.
In a release, FCG stated that the alliance was inspired by Ursula von der Leyen’s words, President of the European Commission and Mariya Gaba, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, who both called for a strengthening of fashion at European level. The alliance is a collective voice advocating for and accelerating the transformation of European fashion to a more innovative, inclusive and sustainable future.
The European Fashion Organisations have joined this new industry coalition with the Frankfurt Agreement and decided to develop a joint active and reactive strategy to the necessary changes in the industry over the next few months.
The alliance was formed to expand and strengthen a network of councils, institutions and support organizations to create a common understanding on practical goals of how the fashion industry can transform and improve the protection of the planet for all its inhabitants and the diverse actors in the industry.
This alliance brings together European fashion organizations, which represent a unique and large part of the industry. They aim to work in concert to improve European fashion on a sustainable, inclusive and innovative level, as well as to speed up the translation of their goals into real actions and policy recommendations.
According to FCG, this new alliance, which is a unique network of European Fashion Councils, Funding Bodies, Incubators and Clusters, aims to not only exchange, educate, and research market information, contacts, and best practices but also advocate for a prosperous future with different economic, political, and social actors on a European level.
The next European Fashion Alliance Summit is scheduled to take place between 18 and 21 October 2022 during Gran Canaria Swim Week organized by Mode Calida.
