Elan has showcased its innovative collection from recycled PET at the FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Sustainable Fashion Day. The collection was created in collaboration with David Abraham and Rakesh Thákore. It focused on a theme of ‘Assemble Disassemble Reassemble’ to create a look from recycled PET materials.
The design duo made sure that the craft techniques such as patchwork, hand-stitching and appliques were the perfect foundation for the ensembles. In a press statement, the company stated that assemble surfaces and graphic patterns had been cleverly combined with prints and designs to bring a new visual delight to recycling techniques.

Designers kept the silhouettes simple and timeless while presenting a range of stylish, modern ready-to-wear that can be worn from dawn until dusk. The designers created a range of clothing including tunics, pants and wrap skirts. They also included dresses. Kimono-inspired jackets were also on display.
Abraham and Thakore turned waste into glamour by creating a capsule evening look with sequins, which was cleverly created from sheets of PET material.
The designers chose neutral shades like black and white but also added burgundy and red as well as coffee, olive, and wine. The simple black wrap long skirt was a standout, especially when paired with a stylish but basic blouse.
The belted formal trench coats with wide lapels, calf-length, looked amazing when worn with simple parallels. The burgundy wrap skirt with a matching maxi in burgundy was the winner when it came to lean shapes. The release said.
Elan was a mindful, sustainable line that blended tradition with technology and New Age materials in a contemporary, stylish format.
