Chico’s FAS announced that executive Christine Munnelly has been appointed senior vice president for merchandising at Soma. She will be in charge of the design, product and overall strategy at Soma, and report directly to Molly Langenstein. Chico’s FAS, a Florida fashion company, is the new CEO of Soma.
Chico’s FAS stated in a release that Munnelly has over 35 years experience in corporate retail, working for an impressive portfolio of vertical specialty stores and department store. He is experienced in leading diverse and talented teams in product development, merchandise lifecycle strategy and e-commerce, as well as building consumer centric products.
Munnelly was most recently senior vice president of merchandising with Ascena where she managed merchandising efforts for Ann Taylor, LOFT, and other brands. She was executive vice president of merchandising for New York & Company before that, where she honed her design skills and developed a keen understanding of consumer needs. Munnelly held other executive roles throughout her career. She was vice president of Aeropostale’s merchandising department. She was responsible for product development, branding and merchandising of girls’ clothing. She was a member of the Macy’s leadership team, serving as vice president of merchandise in the junior sportswear department for 17 years.
